SCISSOR SHARPENING
Sharpening scissors to the highest standard...
For dog grooming scissors, including convex edge scissors, we utilise the Hira-to machine, manufactured by Wolff Industries of America.
This advanced tool allows us to sharpen various types of scissors to the highest standard. With the Hira-to, we can sharpen right and left-handed scissors, adjusting the sharpening angles between 25 and 65 degrees to meet your specific requirements.

To achieve exceptional results, we carefully disassemble the scissors, removing screws and washers before sharpening each blade individually.
The scissors are securely attached to the arm of the Hira-to machine, and we set the precise sharpening angle needed.
Using a series of sharpening discs graded from 9 microns to 80 microns, we sharpen each blade to perfection. After sharpening, the scissors are meticulously oiled, reassembled, and tested to ensure the desired sharpness is achieved.

For sharpening horse clipper blades and dog grooming clipper blades, we rely on the Nebraska Big Red Clipper Blade Sharpener.
This specialised tool is designed to restore the sharpness and performance of clipper blades used in equestrian and animal grooming settings.
When clipper blades are brought to our workshop, they are often blunt and filled with animal hair. We begin by carefully disassembling the blades and providing a provisional cleaning.
The two blades - the comb and the cutter - are then sharpened on the Big Red honing plate, ensuring optimal cutting performance. After sharpening, the blades are demagnetised and thoroughly cleaned using a degreasing solution. We then realign, lubricate, and tension the blades, ensuring they are ready to deliver efficient and precise grooming results.
"Twice as Sharp"
We also utilise the "Twice as Sharp" scissor sharpener, another tool manufactured by Wolff Industries of America, for sharpening pet grooming scissors.
This versatile machine features two wheels - one for sharpening and the other for polishing. With the scissors securely attached to an arm and clamp assembly, we set the desired sharpening angle and proceed to sharpen and polish the scissor blades. This ensures a sharp and refined edge for optimal grooming performance.
To provide additional options for specific grooming needs, we offer a serrated edge service using a partnering "Corrugating" machine. This machine, used in conjunction with the "Twice as Sharp" machine, puts a corrugated (serrated) edge on the finger blade of the scissors.
The serrated edge proves beneficial when cutting coarse hair, as it helps prevent the hair from sliding away from the cutting edge. This service is especially suitable for pet hair and animal grooming.
